Drums from the North- A tale of a Shamanic Drum Maker
Juha Jarvinen is a Finnish drum maker who produces shamanic drums using old methods similar to the ones made in the Nordic countries centuries ago. You will be able to see Juha’s work, his process of woodcarving, and his reflections on his activity, and he talks about his background and creative process. This film is part of the Artitus Project. It is a visual project idealized by Barbara Kaucher that aims to show how things are made, how artisans perceive themselves and their work, and their social impact.
HELLO HONEY- a tale of a beekeeper and her bees
Nora is a Finnish beekeeper who produces monofloral honey and fights for the preservation of the Nordic Dark Bee, an endangered bee species. In the film, we can accompany Nora in her important work on the island of Parainen in the Finnish archipelago, where she has a special hive next to the castle of Qvidja. Through the film you can not only be presented to the Nordic Dark Bees, and what its consists a beekeeper work, but also be indulged with the beautiful landscape of Parainen/Pargas in Finland with its multiples islands and colors. “HELLO HONEY, a tale of a beekeeper and her bees” is also an urgent film that brings us how connected we are to the bees.
A Tale of Nagu- a story about a special gin made in the Finnish archipelago
Nagu is a beautiful island in the finishing archipelago and is also a small-batch gin brand. In my film, Anton Lindholm and Jonathan Smeds, childhood friends and business partners share their ideas on how to make gin on the same island they grew up on at Nagu distillery. Following the process of how the gin Nagu is made, we are transported to the island of Nagu and its beautiful landscapes of this small Fenno-Swedish community in the Finnish archipelago.

Terraviiva is Minna Komulainen’s company and brand. Minna is a ceramist who has dedicated an important part of her life to the production of handmade ceramic pieces. Through her hands, she brings life to the clay and has had her life changed by her activity. In this film, Minna shares her reflections on her activity and brings relevant insights to all those who are dedicated to creating something with their hands from start to finish.
